Mary Sue Lanaux

Mary Sue Cairns Lanaux, age 84, of Abita Springs and formerly of Mandeville, passed away on April 24, 2025. She was born December 17, 1940 in Alexandria, LA.

Beloved wife & best friend of Michel Emile Lanaux, Sr. Her parents were Dr. Adrian Bennet Sr. & Mary Adeline Cairns. Mother of Susan Elizabeth Snyder of Des Moines, Iowa, Michel Emile Lanaux Jr of Abita Springs, LA, and Thomas Baldwin Lanaux of Austin, Texas.  She was the sister of the late Dr. Adrian Bennet Cairns, Jr, Thomas E. Cairns and the late Robert F. Cairns. 

She was Grandmother of 8- Elizabeth Fretz, Christopher Snyder & Finn Snyder (Charles & Susan E. Snyder), Michael and Nathaniel Lanaux (Michel E. Jr. & Brenda Lanaux) and Madelynn, Adrian, and Aiden Lanaux (Thomas B. & Monica Lanaux).  She was Great Grandmother of 3- Jack Fretz, Dean Fretz and June Snyder.

Mary Sue was a graduate of St Martin’s Episcopal School and attended Ole Miss University. While there she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.  She loved gardening, Bridge, biking, playing Scrabble and good movies. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, located at 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, La. with visitation. Beginning at 10:00 AM.  Burial services will be private.
